Thoughts shared by Bob's friend Mark Cosner

Subject: Bob Andersen

I worked with Bob for several months in 2003 during his long association with the Blacktail TV Tax district. Bob had maintained various TV translators around the Flathead valley since at least the late 1950's. Bob obviously enjoyed this work and was eager to share his knowledge and interest with me. Rural Flathead valley TV viewers owe much to Bob's efforts for helping to provide a link to the outside world via TV in the days before cable, the Internet, and satellite TV.

I have owned and operated the local Motorola dealership for the past 19 years. Knowing Bob gave me a sense of continuity since Bob was in the two-way radio business for many years. He shared his experiences with me as we traveled to the various Blacktail TV sites.

Bob grew up during the Golden Age of radio. He was proud of the antique radios he had restored. He was also adept at using the Internet to search for parts and information on these radio sets.

Bob had recently installed a satellite phone for a relative up the North Fork. This turned out to be an easy task for him-he said it worked liked a champ! When we last saw Bob he was working with a battery de-sulphating circuit he had built. He was eager to help us restore our old batteries and show us how it worked.

Bob also spoke often and proudly of his sons Richard and John. We will miss his visits.

Thanks Bob!
